And Now That I’m In Your Shadow by Damien Jurado (Domino)

Seattle-based singer-songwriter (and kindergarten schoolteacher) Jurado surfaces again with his seventh full-length album in as many years, and it’s a career high to rival 1999’s Rehearsals For Departure. One of his main themes has always been the transience of much American life, and the consequent fragility of relationships, which is explored again here on tracks like ‘Denton, TX’, ‘I Am Still Here’ and ‘Gas Station’. Poignant, quiet, mostly acoustic, with added cello from Jenna Conrad, this is an album to treasure, and keep safe some place in your heart.
